Course Outline

Day 1:

 Explore the Project Management Framework and culture

  • The goals and objectives of project management in an organization.
  • Characteristics of successful projects.
  • Criteria of healthy and competent project management culture.
  • Framework of project management portfolio (selecting, prioritizing, implementing, canceling and closing the right projects).
  • Fundamental of PMI’s Project Management Body of Knowledge and how can you adopt it to your organization.
  • Understand the role of executives in making the project manager successful.

   Day 2:

 Transitioning the project from business justification to Initiation

  • Follow the project selection methods.
  • Set strategic goals and ensure they are understood by team members.
  • Facilitate the initiation and kick-off of the project.
  • Identify project requirement, objectives, roles and responsibilities, and success criteria.
  • Identify and perform project stakeholder analysis.
  • Monitor the development and approve of project charter.

   Day 3:

 Manage the project planning process

  • Guide the development and approval of project planning and project baseline.
  • Facilitate project planning workshops for project scope, risk management, and project scope.
  • Lay the foundation of project management maturity.
  • Develop the project change control process.
  • Approve the project management plan.

   Day 4:

 Monitor the execution of the project

  • Ensure common understanding of project objectives and set and manage expectations.
  • Execute an effective quality management plan that is based on pre-defined deliverable criteria.
  • Execute pre-approved changes and workaround.
  • Improve performance by motivating and building confidence in team members.

 Day 5:

Establish an effective control and monitoring system

  •  Validate project performance based on measurable criteria.
  •  Verify and manage the changes to the project.
  •  Monitor the responses to risks and ensure the involvement of project stockholders.
  •  Establish and manage the escalation process and help PMs to succeed.
